What Should You Expect on Your First Visit With Us?

At Skadsem Weum Chiropractic Clinic our examination procedures are geared towards detection and correction of the “Vertebral Subluxation”. The procedures we use are therefore specifically selected for your spine and nervous system health. There are a couple of things that you should expect at your first visit at our clinic.

1. CONSULTATION
After a review of your personal history, you will receive a personal consultation. This is a time reserved for you to discuss your personal history with the doctor. It is at this time it will be explained to you what we do, what we don’t do, what you can expect and what you should not expect from chiropractic care in our office.

2. EXAMINATION
A chiropractic examination focuses on the nervous system and the spine which protects it. The spine protects the brain stem, the spinal cord and the spinal nerve roots. Normal transmission of nerve impulses is vital to the function of your entire body. All of these structures work together and are intimately related. Your examination is directed toward your nervous system and protective spinal structures, regardless of what symptoms you do or do not have at any given time. The examination may also include some specialized equipment designed to better access your spine and nervous system. This examination could involve several components.

            Spinal X-rays
X-rays may be taken depending on your situation.

There are many reasons why we would not take x-rays on certain patients including pregnancy, most children, recent useable spinal x-rays and some other various situations. Aside from these situations, x-rays are a common part of the examination process when looking for vertebral subluxations. X-ray gives us important information including the position of the spinal bones, the quality of the spine and safety of adjusting it.

With this important information we can make a more accurate determination of the type of adjustments your spine needs as well as formulate a treatment plan specific to your needs. Your X-rays will be explained to you and covered in detail at your Report of Findings.

3. REPORT OF FINDINGS
This visit is your most important visit. It is at your Report of Findings that we will give you a treatment plan specific to you and go over any special instructions you will need to obtain the fastest possible results.
